Critters

Vicariously, us humans engage the animal kingdom. Chatting up dogs, cats, birds, pets—you name it. Often this leads to dialogue, back-n-forths— even arguments– all self-sided!  Legends imbue creatures with human caricatures, emotions– and yes, hidden agendas. Empathetically we bond, relate, assign characteristics. Eyes, postures, behaviors, and tendencies are key. And so we watch. Maybe we surmise and learn. Anecdotal history contributes to accumulated knowledge.
Anthropologist attributes this behavior as anthropomorphism. Instead, I’ll call such attributes Critters. Some being quirkier than others. Rollover John Ruskin –we just can’t help ourselves!
